Remembering River Phoenix
Posted on 30. Oct, 2009 by Luciana in General
It’s been 16 years (October 31, 1993) since the suddenly, tragic and sad death of River Phoenix, one of the best actors of his generation. Still missed, this post is a little tribute.
We all know the huge friendship Keanu and River had at that time. Below is an excerpt of one of his biographies, about River’s death:
Keanu was deeply affected by the death of Phoenix, and so Jan De Bont rejigged his tough filming schedule to cut the grieving actor a little slack. Switching around the schedule on Speed, De Bont made sure that Keanu had some less demanding scenes to work on while he came to terms with the loss of his friend.
Keanu did come to terms with the death of River Phoenix, and was able to see what he had gained from knowing Phoenix. “River was a really heavy actor… he was the best. It helped me a lot to work with him. He was really inspiring and intelligent. All I can say is I’ve never felt a thing like that before in my life. I was very sad, and something beyond sad. I don’t know what it is, just that you sob for hours….”
I hope you have found your star, Rio.

16 years later and still knowing we’ll never see our beloved River again is still heartbreaking. We can only hope River is in a happier, better place looking down on us right now <3,

I remember hearing it on the news I was in my early 20’s I’m 6 yrs younger then Keanu, who when I was 15 was and still is my favorite actor and hottest man alive still…But sadness fell when River I heard collasped outsideJohnny Depps club at the time, later I found out why and what happened and was even more sad! But mostly feeling Sorry for Keanu because I knew how close they were, well not personally but just by keeping up on whats going on in his life. And still following him in the news and all his great movies since then just turning 40 this year and still remembering. My husband said if Keanu only knew, how much I follow him well on the net, not by going to cities and other countries to find him that I was a stalker..But only one of the biggest Fans he will ever never know!!!!! But I know Keanu and River’s family misses him the most….I know I still do!!!!! But forever in Keanu’s eyes!!!!!!!!!

It doesn’t seem like it has been so long since River passed away. I loved watching the movie Stand By Me. I cried the first time I watched it. Keanu if it is any comfort to you, the song “Lean On Me” from the movie Stand by Me by Club Nuveau is a song I have often listened to when I have mourned and missed friends I have lost in life. If you have a higher power, ask him for guidance and strength to get you through. Sincerely a concerned fan,

River’s not gone! Just because he went to Heaven doesn’t mean he’s not present with those of us who love him ever single day. If you want to feel River, pray for him and to him and you may get a surprize. Those in Heaven can and want to be with us more presently than ever because they can and because we need them to be to show us the way. River is one of my biggest guides from the other side! I love him soooo much!!!
